To know me is to know that I love “words.” I love them on paper and I love the way they sound. Funny thing is that I was actually named after a silent screen movie star – Vilma Banky. She starred in “The Sheik” with Rudolph Valentino. Unfortunately, her career was killed off by the advent of sound due to her Hungarian accent.
It is my love of reading that has inspired me to write. I’m a believe that these two disciplines belong together! I took a Creative Writing Class in High School and I was hooked! I majored in English in college and took a detour in advertising and direct marketing. I worked at a major airline as a Marketing Manager and ended up working at a Direct Marketing agency. I loved the work, the people, the energy…then I had kids. Another detour, I opted to take time off to raise my children.
Two years ago, I started writing for Patch.com covering local stories in my suburban neighborhood and started a column called “Patch Chat.”
